Coral Island v1.2b "Haunted House & Minigames" update is now live!

This update includes new content and various improvements to the game:

New content releasing in v1.2b

Minigame: Haunted House

We added a new minigame! It’s a partner-only activity, so grab a romanceable NPC you’ve already hung out with. They won’t go if you haven’t. For one night, Ling’s mansion becomes a Haunted House. Find it right behind the Clinic.

  • Haunted House is now available during the Spooky Festival!

  • Ask a romanceable NPC to go in with you... if you dare.

Tattoo Shop

For anyone wanting a tattoo but terrified of needles, come here instead. The (hot) Coral Island tattoo artist is now taking commissions! My first one will be a Pufferfish tattoo. Gotta show my loyalty. Sorry, folks.

  • Rysy’s Tattoo Shop is now open, with a selection of unique tattoos ready to purchase.

  • You can access the shop once you’ve obtained the Seal of Naga.

NPC Improvements

Okay, good news: you’re no longer the only one who can start hugs and kisses. NPCs can finally do it too! Some of you pointed out that it felt kind of one-sided before, and yeah. True, that was kind of lame. Relationships go both ways.

Now your loved one might come up asking for a hug or kiss, and you can decline without them getting upset. No punishment, no relationship points lost.

  • Romanceable NPCs you’re dating can now initiate a hug.

  • If you’re married, your spouse can now hug and kiss you.

  • We also added new dynamic dialogue lines.

Hangout: Watch a Film

You can now pick the film you want to watch when hanging out with a romanceable NPC. We’ve added a variety of movies to the theatre, and the screen now displays actual media. The days of the empty screen are over!

Minigame: Arcades

The Recreation Center’s Arcade now has four playable minigames: Dance Dash, Mining Mania, Galaxy Invaders, and Mice Survivors. Rack up tickets and trade them in for prizes using the ticket machine inside. Play as long as you like, time stops while you’re playing the arcade, and all games are free.99!

ree

Fun fact: Mice Survivors was originally created by a 7-year-old and later remade by the Coral Island team. Its original name was Donut Survivor.

Rice Terrace Growth

You’ll now see farmers working in the rice fields near Jack’s ranch and right behind your house! Except during fall and winter, when they take a break from the cold. The rice grows with the seasons, and you can actually watch it change.

It’s a little bit of Bali brought into Coral Island. The fields use an approach inspired by the Subak irrigation system, something from home we wanted to share.

ree

Pets

Pets are not only keeping you company on the farm, but they also have a 20% chance to bring you little gifts. And if you own two or more of the same type, they’ll actually play together!

End of Season Recap Screen

For all the data lovers out there, we’ve added a Season Recap screen. You’ll see it at the end of the day on the final day of each season (the 28th).

ree

New Points of Interest

We added a few fun points of interest (POI) around the island. As you play, hover your mouse over different spots. If the magnifying glass appears, that means there’s extra info to discover, like text or a fun picture. Just something we thought would be fun!

New Clothing Options

New clothing is now available at White Flamingo and Tidal Threads.

ree

New Decor Options

We’ve added new indoor and outdoor decor! Every decor item can be placed either on land or underwater. Indoor items will say Home Decor, and outdoor ones will say Place on the Farm, easy!

We’re improving current features to make everything feel smoother and nicer to play.

Improved Fishing

  • UI improved: you’ll now see when bait is equipped.

  • Shiny Fish silhouette: appears at certain fishing spots to hint at a Legendary Fish or other special rewards.

  • Fish silhouettes: now appear as soon as you start fishing.

  • Silhouette size: matches the size of the fish available in that spot.

  • Hook mechanic added: hook the fish after it bites the bait.

Ranch animals behave better now, no more cows stacking on top of each other (rude). You can also place hay into the feeder box from one spot instead of running around.

[friends not foe]

ree

[Hay can now be placed into the feeder box from a single spot.]

Improved Solar Orb

A few of you mentioned that Solar Orbs were hard to see when they hid behind objects. Frustrating! We’ve added green VFX to make them easier to spot now.

[Added green VFX to Solar Orbs to improve visibility when they’re hidden behind objects.]

Improved NPC Sleeping

NPCs now sleep with their blankets pulled up. It just looks more natural and less uncanny at night. And if you try talking to them while they’re asleep, you’ll now see a little message explaining why they’re not responding.

Emissive Night Lamp

Improved the way lamps' emissive lights up at night.

ree
